Metropolitan contracts for as much as $500 million annually in construction, goods and services.

The state of California purchases a wide variety of goods and services ranging from pencils to temporary labor with annual purchases totalling almost $10 billion.



Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) is unique among the nation’s transportation agencies. It serves as transportation planner and coordinator, designer, builder and operator for one of the country’s largest, most populous counties. Metro invests in working with small businesses, knowing from experience that the ingenuity, risk-taking and skills of small businesses are propelling the region’s economic development. The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) is the largest third party certifier of businesses owned, controlled, and operated by women in the United States. WBENC, a national 501(c)(3) non-profit, partners with 14 Regional Partner Organizations to provide its world class standard of certification to women-owned businesses throughout the country.



Southern California Minority Supplier Development Council (SCMSDC) is the largest nonprofit minority business advocacy organization in the region, representing the interests of more than 600,000 Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs), serving nearly 1,700 SCMSDC-Certified MBEs and 300 corporate members throughout a 13-county service area (Fresno, Imperial, Inyo, Kern, Kings, Los Angeles, Orange County, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Tulare, Ventura).
